|About the Book|
Alaric Overby was born in 1973 to a single mother. He entered the foster home system when he was eight. He had joined a gang by the age of twelve and went to prison at nineteen, where he served twelve years for voluntary manslaughter. Despite being in an environment plagued with violence and little hope, Alaric discovered poetry as an alternate means of expression. His poetry reached those behind and beyond prison walls. Upon his release, he went straight to college, graduating with a degree in business. In 2003 he met his wife, Carla, and they have three beautiful children: Josaiah, Alaric, and Analeah. Ink Stains: From Tattoos to Poetry is a poetic memoir of a life filled with the lowest points, and the greatest joys that come from never giving up hope.
